Streamlining Data Analysis for Enhanced Cancer Care in C/Can Cities
"The automated and repeatable nature of the new process allows for efficient handling of data from multiple cities with minimal configuration."
Business issue
The City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) supports cities in improving cancer care access and quality, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. A critical aspect of C/Can's approach involves gathering data from diverse stakeholders within a city to understand the local cancer care landscape. However, efficiently processing and analysing this data presented a significant challenge. Cities often lacked the resources and tools to effectively handle the large volume of information collected through surveys and other means. This bottleneck hindered their ability to identify key challenges, benchmark facilities, and develop targeted interventions.
Our solution
A custom-built automated processing system was implemented to address this data analysis challenge. This system ingests, cleanses, and standardises survey responses, significantly reducing the time and resources required for data processing. The automated and repeatable nature of the new process allows for efficient handling of data from multiple cities with minimal configuration. Furthermore, visualisations were created to display the processed data in various formats, including reports, presentations, and web platforms. These visualisations enabled stakeholders to easily grasp key insights and trends, facilitating data-driven decision-making.

Impact
This solution directly supported C/Can's mission by empowering partner cities to effectively leverage data for improved cancer care. The solution reduced data processing time, benchmarked capabilities, and enhanced planning & implementation. Ultimately, by streamlining their data analysis, C/Can and its partner cities could more effectively address local challenges and improve access to quality cancer care.
